Jackery 500 Review for Photographers

The Jackery 500 portable generator comes in handy for photographers who need to consider a reliable power source for their camera and other equipment. I often find it challenging to find a power source at outdoor photoshoots or working in remote locations. This is especially true for full day or multiple day shoots outdoors. But with the Jackery 500, this problem can be solved. This is my Jackery 500 review for photographers.

The Jackery 500 portable generator is a powerful and versatile power source with a battery capacity of 518Wh. This generator can charge multiple devices simultaneously, including laptops, smartphones, and cameras.

Photo Gear used with Jackery 500

Sometimes, I travel light for basic shoots, but when I’m on a paid project, I make sure to be prepared for anything. That’s why I carry my Jackery 500. During the last weeklong event of the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, where I take hundreds of photos a day, the Jackery 500 was essential for keeping my camera gear, MacBook Pro, GoPro, and extra batteries charged throughout the day and week.

One of the benefits of using the Jackery 500 portable generator for photography is the portability. The generator weighs only 13.3lbs, making it easy to carry. Most of the time, I keep it in the back of my Toyota 4Runner. Rather than draining my car battery, I can charge my equipment while driving or parked. Plus, it charges all devices simultaneously faster than if I did it through my car battery alone.

Oh, and did I mention it also powers my portable refrigerator in the back of my 4runner, so I always have cool drinks and snacks throughout the day? Yes, its that versatile.

Durable and Reliable

The Jackery 500 portable generator is also incredibly durable and can withstand harsh weather conditions. This makes it ideal for outdoor photography, mine usually all dusty due to it spending so much time outdoors, like the beach or desert. It has an internal fan if it gets too hot, so it has built in protection.

Another advantage of using the Jackery 500 portable generator is its versatility. The generator comes with a 1 AC outlet (110V 500W 1000W peak), 3 USB-A ports, 2 DC ports, and 1 car port, allowing me to charge multiple devices simultaneously. It’s not uncommon to have three or four items charging all at once. And it works great!

The Jackery 500 was a lifesaver when I was shooting all day outdoors at the Bolsa Chica Wetlands Bridge. During my outdoor photoshoots (which I’ll share in a later article) with Megan Felix and Emily Probst at the Bolsa Chica Bridge, I had it in my car constantly charging my batteries for my cameras and flashes.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Jackery 500 portable generator has been one of my best investments I’ve made for my photography business. Great portability, durability, and versatility, and it charges all my equipment fast and reliably wherever I’m located. I’ve searched online for a Jackery 500 review for photographers, but have not found one, so I hope this was helpful. So, if you’re a photographer looking for a reliable power source, the Jackery 500 portable generator is definitely worth considering.
